B.,
You meet thousands of people in life, but only grow close enough to be affected by few. You affected me. You brought out traits that I wish were always present; an innocent authenticity that refreshed how I saw the world. I can't be cynical in your presence and I wish I was more often under this command. You speak softly, yet affirmatively, like you know what to say but you don't know with whom to share it. Your voice is a bird call in human language. It's poetry. In you I see a shared humanity that I think we all experience. I often feel like I'm searching for something and in you I see the same, we linger on the ends of spoken words, glances, light brushes on the skin, that we hesitate to let go for what we cannot find might go with them. I'd like to see you again, but I am afraid we would find that this feeling would fade and leave us with a divide that couldn't be bridged for want of definition. Maybe it is best that we were able to experience each other for the time we had and no more. It burned bright and for a moment illuminated what emotions can be found in life's most beautiful moments. I hope you find happiness. I know for a time I did.

P. S. The quote "Her eloquence could be compared to nothing save Niagara" applies to you in a way different than most. You are more like the waterfall in the background of a silent movie. Something moving, yet unobtrusive. Something you can focus all your attention on and still not fully comprehend.
