I'd like to express an appreciation to you. I'm in a new world and finding myself - floating.

An entire dinner goes by in a room of intelligent and worldly engineers, physicians, managers, and technicians, and nobody says a single word of importance. I used to share the same deep passion for mountaineering and travel, and I still do in my way, but I'm beginning to feel isolated outside of the company of folks with a grander focus.

Not to be condescending because these wilderness responders and trauma doctors have personally saved more lives than I ever will and are deeply passionate about living. I just find it very strange to walk this line in this next era of my life. I'm again realizing how valuable it is to have perspectives like yours to reflect on when discerning the meaning of it all. Maybe I'm beginning to seek the profound in connection to the social whole rather than the personal.

I'm curious if you share any of these experiences in connection to your new place and work. Do you feel a sense of moving forward? Has the scale changed?

It will be a sad day when I forget what it's like to be inspired by a soul like yours. I hope you goals and dreams are ever coming closer to realization. I hope your reflections manifest profundity in the small and large. And I hope you find meaning in your everyday experience.
